How to sell your Study Abroad experience to employers and graduate schools

The Career Services Network ( and Office of Study Abroad ( offer an interactive and highly informative workshop designed to help students effectively present their study abroad experience in their résumé and application cover letters, during job interviews, and in graduate school applications.

Among other topics, students will learn how to...

The workshops begin with information on research done with employers and an introduction to authentic reflection. The actual "unpacking" comes when student volunteers are interviewed about their specific type of study abroad program. These interviews are focused on making connections to career goals or interests. By the end of their interview, a student should have a list of bullet points describing knowledge and skills gained that they can incorporate into a résumé or a personal statement. Students then get to "unpack" one of their peers. At the end, students regroup to debrief about the different ways to present the skills and competencies in résumé and interviews.

Spring 2015 workshops scheduled for February have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Please continue to check this page for updates. We apologize for any inconvenience.
