Students participating in co-sponsored programs that last more than six (6) months and internship programs in the United Kingdom are considered Tier 4 PBS Students. This applies to international students and American citizens.
Tier 4 PBS Students must obtain a visa before departure. This is a lengthy process, and students should plan ahead.
Interns will receive information directly from CAPA regarding the visa application process.
Students participating in co-sponsored programs should contact osapa@isp.msu.edu for more information. The most up-to-date visa information will be available through your host institution.
International students participating in these programs should not plan to renew their U.S. visas in the United Kingdom. Some students have been required to prove that they will be permitted to return to the U.S. after their program ends. For this reason, OSA recommends that all international students renew their U.S. visas BEFORE applying for a UK visa.
If you are not participating in an internship program or an MSU co-sponsored program that lasts more than six (6) months, please return to the main UK visa page for more information.
