Michigan State offers more than 270 programs in over 60 countries around the world - with so many options it can be difficult to decide which program works best for you. Our programs run for different lengths of time, travel during different parts of the year, have varying payment models, etc. so their costs also have a broad range. Understanding how these different elements may impact your financing can help you select a suitable program.
An important fact to keep in mind is that ALL expenses (including airfare and spending money) are used in calculating your eligibility for financial aid/scholarships - not just what you pay to MSU. To see this amount and more effectively compare programs, refer to the cost button on the web program descriptions and remember the three main components: program fee, additional expenses, and tuition (if not included in the program fee). The Study Abroad Cost Worksheet (PDF)* is another useful tool for estimating expenses.
If you need assistance, stop by International Center 108 any time Monday-Friday between 9AM - 4:30 PM to speak with one of our Peer Advisors. If you have questions about a specific program, you can make an appointment with the appropriate Study Abroad Coordinator. And remember that only the Office of Financial Aid can tell you how much aid you are eligible for and how it may be used during your studies. It is highly recommended that you visit with an advisor in the Office of Financial Aid to discuss the specifics of your situation.
