Bess works with incoming exchange and study abroad students through the American Semester Program.  She also works on special projects for the Office of Study Abroad.

Originally from Glen Ellyn, IL, Bess is a Michigan State graduate with a B.A. in Comparative Cultures and Politics.  As a junior at MSU, she studied abroad for nine months at Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Quito, Ecuador.  She had the opportunity to take classes alongside Ecuadorian students, live with a host family and explore the region independently and on class fieldtrips. She returned to MSU with vastly improved Spanish skills, a passion for international education and a desire to help other people have an equally meaningful study abroad program.  She worked as a peer adviser at the MSU Office of Study Abroad as a student and enjoyed assisting fellow students in choosing and preparing for their own international experiences.  Following graduation, she returned to the Office of Study Abroad as a Coordinator.  She considers her study abroad to be the most important and transformative experience of her undergraduate education, and firmly believes students in every major benefit from an internationalized perspective.
